data-mm-id=”_d7a69i8jp”>The Cincinnati Bengals have reportedly made “significant offers” to star wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase, who has been holding out this summer in pursuit of a lucrative long-term contract extension. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport provided key insights on "The Insiders" Wednesday, just as Chase returned to practice ahead of the Bengals' season opener against the New England Patriots. While no deal has been finalized, Rapoport emphasized that the negotiations are edging closer to Chase's desire: a contract comparable to or surpassing his former LSU teammate Justin Jefferson’s record-breaking $140 million extension with the Minnesota Vikings.Joe Burrow said Ja'Marr Chase is "Ready To Go" Bengals duo back in action for Week 1 pic.twitter.com/V8qPoLZROj— B/R Gridiron (@brgridiron) September 4, 2024"The Bengals have made significant offers to Ja'Marr Chase," Rapoport said. "I would say at least somewhat in the neighborhood of what he wants. They do not have a deal yet. I wouldn't describe this as close. But I would say it's at least closer for Ja'Marr Chase to practice. That is a big deal. I know there's some optimism that he looked good in practice, that he's potentially getting ready to play. All of these good things."From The Insiders on @NFLNetwork: #Bengals WR Ja’Marr Chase walked out to practice, which was a very good sign. But not there yet… pic.twitter.com/2c2C5NOMDY— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) September 4, 2024The Bengals have a tall task ahead. Chase is undoubtedly one of the NFL’s premier wide receivers, and his on-field production speaks for itself. His 17-game averages over his first three seasons – 101 catches, 1,404 yards, and 11 touchdowns – firmly establish his value as a top-tier offensive threat. Chase’s goal is clear: he wants to beat or match Jefferson’s deal, even if it’s by just a single penny. As the Bengals approach the regular season, the urgency to finalize a deal increases, with both sides aware of the potential consequences if they can't reach an agreement.Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase / Kareem Elgazzar/The Enquirer / USA TODAY NETWORKThough Chase is back at practice, the situation remains fluid. If the Bengals don’t meet his demands, the possibility of further contract drama looms large. For now, Bengals fans and NFL insiders alike are waiting with bated breath to see if the Bengals can seal the deal and secure Chase’s future in Cincinnati.

Juventus hopes of a top-four Serie A finish suffered a huge double blow as the Bianconeri were thrashed 4-1 at Empoli on the same day they received a 10-point deduction.
Moments before kick-off, Juve expressed great bitterness at the Italian Football Federation s decision to issue a new penalty over alleged transfer irregularities, putting them seventh in the table.
Massimiliano Allegri s side showed no signs of being fired up by that ruling, as Francesco Caputo s penalty and Sebastiano Luperto s powerful effort quickly put Empoli in control.
Caputo doubled up with a delicate finish after half-time and though Federico Chiesa pulled one back, Roberto Piccoli s stoppage-time strike compounded the visitors misery and left them five points outside the top four with…
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes Manchester United have started a clear out and are looking to improve by adding new players this month following a chastening 2-0 home defeat to Burnley.
United produced an abject display against Sean Dyche s men on Wednesday as they lacked a cutting edge in attack without the injured Marcus Rashford, who could be out until April with a back problem.
Chris Wood and Jay Rodriguez got the goals for Burnley, who ultimately had little difficulty hanging on to the victory.
United have been strongly linked with Sporting CP midfielder Bruno Fernandes, though media reports continue to suggest the two clubs are well apart in their valuation of the Portugal international.

I had 11 years at the club, and even if it was a hard road for me, and I suffered through my time at Arsenal, today I am happy and I tried to show young goalies how work pays off.
When you work hard, you are not going to be happy the whole time, you are going to have frustration, bad times in life.
They all understood at Arsenal and they support me for my decision. The Arsenal fanbase were always there for me, I felt their love.
Even when Bernd got injured this season, I received loads of messages like we trust in you , you are our goalie . That made me confident, made me win games and made me the keeper I am today.
They understood my story and they love the way I worked in the club. I am so glad to be part of the Arsenal family for 11 years.
